RE:FRAME - ORIGINS Creatives 2025
Last night was the launch of Origins Creatives 2025. A celebration of the incredible breadth of creative talent that UAL Awarding Body supports up and down the U.K.
This year I was honoured to be selected as the curator. A real career milestone moment as I was entrusted with 622 submissions and the beautiful blank walls of Mall Galleries / Federation of British Artists as my curatorial canvas.
I somehow managed to whittle down the submissions to showcase 151 super talented artists, all aged between 14-18. Representing a wide range of the colleges, qualifications and levels that UAL Awarding Body supports.
My curation was titled 'RE:FRAME' and it was all about creativity without compromise.
The focus was celebrating artists who aren’t waiting for permission. Artists who are writing their own rules and reshaping the narrative on their own terms.
In a world where creativity is too often boxed in by expectation, politics, or profit, these artists are proof that it’s possible and necessary to create with freedom, with purpose, and with passion.
The artworks spanned 5 curatorial themes: RE:THINK, RE:CONNECT, RE:CONSTRUCT, RE:ACT and RE:IMAGINE.
Each one invited us to look again, to rethink heritage, reconnect with identity and community, reconstruct from fragments, react to what’s happening around us, and reimagine what’s possible.
These artists aren’t just reflecting the world, they’re challenging it, shaping it, and in many ways, offering us a glimpse of what could come next.
Personally, curating this show has been incredibly inspiring. I’ve been blown away by the talent, the courage, and the vision of every single artist featured.
Their work is a reminder of why creativity matters, especially in times of uncertainty.
I had so many emotional conversations last night with proud parents. Dad's holding back tears and Mum's moved by the whole experience. As well as of course with artists who were taking it all in their stride as they start their creative journey.
RE:FRAME was easily one of my favourite shows of over 12 years of curating exhibitions as it got right to the root of why art matters and the power it has.
