please read before you apply
Glasshouse Square, the new Bristol residential development from Grainger plc (the UK’s largest listed provider of rental homes) is collaborating with Creative Debuts on “The Glasshouse Square Arts Project” to discover local talent.
The project, which is free to enter, will see one large piece of commissioned artwork take centre stage on a feature wall within the new development which is due to open in October 2025.
The Glasshouse Square Arts Project invites local artists of all abilities to enter – submissions are encouraged from different genres of art, including but not limited to painting, mosaics, tapestry, illustrations, digital media, photography.
You can enter as a group or individually and the commissioned artist or group will receive £3,000 cash + up to £500 to cover materials
Please note, the selected artist(s) of the commissioned artwork must be happy to appear in press articles, named and photographed.
-
Utilising their local knowledge, we’d like entrants to submit a proposal bringing to life their idea for an artwork that’s to be the centrepiece of the resident amenity space at Glasshouse Square. The aim is for the commissioned artwork to be symbolic of the local area, significant to the artist, and to delve into the city of Bristol and the feelings it evokes.
All forms of artwork are accepted. Please include a brief description (max 300 words) of your work and its inspiration. Additionally, please give an approximate production cost to create your final artwork and a timeline for final artwork curation.
The final piece of artwork will be around 70cm by 100cm in size. But exact measurements TBC
A budget, up to a maximum of £500, will be allocated to the artists for materials to facilitate the creation of the commissioned art.
The chosen artist (s) will have a maximum of one month to complete the commissioned artwork ahead of a VIP unveiling event.
-
Once the submissions have been judged by our panel, one artist will be selected, to be commissioned by Grainger to create an artwork to be installed within Glasshouse Square.
The panel consists of a Grainger representative and Calum Hall, Founder of Creative Debuts.
We reserve the right to refuse work that doesn't meet the terms and conditions. The judges' decision is final. Selected Artist/s will be notified of the outcome shortly after the selection process.
