TABITHA MILLETT

Dr. Tabitha Millett is a British artist and associate professor at the University of Cambridge, where she leads the MPhil in Arts, Creativities, and Education. Her practice sits at the intersection of artistic inquiry, pedagogy, and public engagement. Exploring how making and learning are deeply entwined, both inside and outside traditional art spaces.

Tabitha’s work spans drawing, painting, installation, and socially engaged practices. At its core is a commitment to process over product, an exploration of materials, ideas, and lived experiences that unfold over time. Whether exhibited in a gallery or situated within a community, her work often invites participation, dialogue, and reflection. Through the use of mark-making, layering, and intuitive composition, Tabitha constructs visual environments that are at once deeply personal and collectively resonant.

Her approach is rooted in a belief that art is a way of thinking, knowing, and becoming. Her artworks resist categorisation, often shifting between abstract and representational modes, drawing attention to the fluidity of perception and meaning. Informed by her academic research into creativities and embodied learning, Tabitha’s visual practice expands traditional notions of both education and art offering viewers a space to feel, think, and make differently.

Tabitha has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, with her work appearing in venues as diverse as Saatchi Gallery, King’s College Cambridge, Brick Lane, Dean Street Soho, and multiple National Trust properties. Her pieces have been shown in both contemporary art galleries and unconventional public spaces, speaking to her interest in accessibility and demystifying the art world. Her recent exhibitions across Barcelona, Munich, Los Angeles, and the UK have further established her as an artist with global reach and local relevance.

Alongside her art practice, Tabitha is a leading academic voice in arts education. As an Associate Professor at Cambridge University, she specialises in the relationship between creativity, identity, and learning. Her teaching and supervision challenge traditional pedagogies and advocate for more inclusive, expansive understandings of what it means to be creative. She mentors a generation of artists, educators, and researchers working at the edge of disciplinary boundaries.

Tabitha’s dual identity as an artist and educator is not a balancing act, it is a symbiosis. Her studio informs her seminar room, and vice versa. She understands creativity as a lived experience, one that transcends profession, age, or background. Through her leadership of the MPhil in Arts, Creativities and Education, she is shaping future approaches to learning and artistic research, grounded in justice, curiosity, and care.

Currently represented by galleries in the UK, Barcelona, Munich, and Los Angeles, Dr. Tabitha Millett continues to explore the role of art in expanding human potential. Her work challenges us to look again—to see art not as an object, but as a method of inquiry, empathy, and transformation.
